Formentera is a perfect island for a women-only escape of a long weekend, and these are the reasons why it is:

- It's a small island, safe and easy to go around also by motorbike
- It's a mix of amazing beaches and cool places to hang out together especially at sunset-- - It's a mix of relaxation and fun

Here we give you our suggestions of where to stay, where to eat, where to go out and which beach clubs to enjoy when is sunset moment, the best time of the day in Formentera.

Best Hotels in Formentera:

Being Formentera a very small island with limited number of hotels and apartments, it's always recommended to book much in advance your stay.

We always enjoyed staying at apartments to rent over hotels (you can check on Airbnb or Homeaway).

Among our favourite hotels, we can suggest:

Es Mares Hotel & Spa - Surrounded by scenic countryside around Sant Francesc in Formentera, this Es Mares Hotel & Spa offers elegant accommodation and a host of facilities, such as on-site parking and free bicycle rental. It is located a few steps from Parque Natural de Ses Salines d'Eivissa and Formentera.

The hotel has 18 modern rooms, each with all the necessary features to ensure a comfortable stay.

Serving Mediterranean cuisine, the modern Es Mares Hotel & Spa restaurant is a convenient option for those who prefer to dine on site.

The hotel is the ideal base from which to visit Es Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse and Puerto de la Sabina, as well as all that the area offers. Savina and Es Mal Pas are also not far away by car from the property.

Paraiso de Los Pinos - Spacious, tastefully furnished apartments nestled in a lovely garden, clean pool and two small ponds inhabited by small lakes that surround the breakfast and dinner tables. The place is a little isolated and uncomfortable to get to by the narrow road and far from the most beautiful beaches, that is why is a place better suggested for those who want isolation and privacy. A special mention goes to the breakfast made of only fresh products.

Blanco Hotel Formentera - As the name says, everything is white at the Blanco, which is run by a family who have decades of experience of running hotels on the island. The pared-down chic fits the no-fuss Formentera ethos to a tee. Don't expect any frills here, just sink into the laidback life of swimming, sunbathing and cycling

Best beaches in Formentera:

Les Illetes: best and longest white beach in Formentera. The sea is crystal clear and pictures will be amazing to take with amazing blue shades of the water. The only weak aspect of this amazing beach is that it's located in a reserved area and this means you have to pay to enter and there is a limited amount of cars and scooters that can enter. You'd better go early in the morning of you'll risk to queue for long time under the sun before getting in.

Migjorn: Another long amazing beach full of beach bars along it (to be mentioned Lucky Bar and Piratabus)

Levante: it's the nordest part of Formentera, opposite to Les Illetes, where the eastern waves meet the western ones and the wind blows stronger than the rest of the island. It's a wilder beach than Illetes.

Best Sunset beach clubs in Formentera:

Beso Beach: if you want to meet fashionistas and VIPs, this is the place to be. Music is always good and the atmosphere is always fun. Also good for a fish-based lunch on the beach.

Sa Sequi: best sunset bar, closest to the port of Formentera. Very nice crowd 30-40 years old and good international mix.

Blu Bar: very much liked by local Spanish people, this bar has a stunning view oft he sea in front o fit and it's the best place where to go dancing from 1 PM to 4 PM. Very cozy, no need to dress up, but that's Formentera style!

Piratabus: Another amazing sunset place with best Black Mojitos on the island.

Pirata Bar: Located at Les Illetes, a bit ahead vs Juan Y Andrea restaurant, it offers great food for lunch and nice international music and atmosphere.

Lucky Bar: Located at Migjorn beach, not too far off Blu Bar, usually full of Italians and Italian music, for those who might love it.

Best Restaurants / Places to eat in Formentera:

Juan & Andrea: Fresh fish served in front of the best spot of Les Illetes.

Es Moli De Sal: expect a posh elegant experience in this restaurant, with an upper view of Les Illetes.

Chezz Gerdi: located on the beach of Es Pujol, you can recognize it from the famous red Volkswagen vintage truck in front of it where it's mandatory to take a memory pic of your holidays in Formentera. Very crowded also during sunset time / aperitivo.

Casanita: lovely place owned by Italians who prepare gourmet authentic dishes – to be tried the Salmon Tartàre.

It's also pretty fundamental in Formentera to go to the local markets, especially these ones:

La Mola market opens on Wednesday and Sunday after 4 PM
Es Pujol market opens everyday from 8 PM onwards while you walk along the sea after dinner
Sant Ferran de ses Roques market opens every day apart from Wednesdays and Sundays after 7 PM
La Savina along the harbor opens every day from 11 AM till 2 PM and from 5 PM till midnight

While you go to one of these lovely markets, don't forget to explore Cap De Barbaria, it's just worth the view, also the long walk (consider at least 2 hours walking in total) and sunset pictures!
