Summer in London!

Summer in London is finally here! It's time to get your legs out and your sunnies on. It has to be said that during summer, London is one of the best places in the world to be. Here are a few of my favourite things to do throughout this fabulous season:

1) Watch a film under the stars: When summer rolls into London, so do the rooftop cinemas. For the die-hard rom-com fans like myself, head to http://www.thelunacinema.com/ to watch films set in the most beautiful locations around the city!!

2) Get to a summer fashion exhibition: As a photographer, going to exhibitions is the best way to get personal inspiration. Somerset house and the V&A have the best fashion series in London. If you're a shoe queen like me, make sure you don't miss the Shoes: Pleasure and Pain exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum! http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/exhibitions/shoes-pleasure-and-pain/about-the-exhibition/

3) Experience a traditional afternoon tea: You can't visit London and not try a summer afternoon tea. It's a favourite thing to do amongst Londoners (particularly those with free-flowing champagne!!) Book a delightful afternoon tea at the Berkeley hotel, whose cakes and treats are inspired by the latest AW15 fashion collections! http://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/fashion-afternoon-tea/ Alternatively, if sailing down the Thames is your thing – try out this delectable tea session: http://www.citycruises.com/city-cruises-experiences-riverdays-tea-cruises.aspx

4) Discover one of the many hidden markets: Sunny weekends in London = the perfect day to head to a market. There are so many all over the city every Saturday and Sunday, however, my favourite haunts are Broadway Market (for food and vintage lovers) and Columbia Road Flower Market for the most beautiful blossom around! http://www.columbiaroad.info

5) Enjoy an unforgettable city sunset: The late summer evenings in London offer the perfect opportunity to watch the most stunning sunsets across the city. The newest addition to London's skyscraper scene is the Sky Garden. Surrounded entirely by glass on the 36th floor, you have uninterrupted views of the beautiful sun setting across the London horizon! http://skygarden.london

Instead, if you're channeling you're inner belly-dancer, try the Moroccan pop-up nights at the Gherkin. This 7-week summer affair offers a unique opportunity to experience the Gherkin's 360 degree views of the city!

6) Go bargain-hunting: I love spending an afternoon strolling around Notting Hill in west London. Not only can you admire the stunning English architecture, brunch in (Granger & co!! http://grangerandco.com) and pop over to gorgeous Portobello road, but you can find incredible vintage designer pieces in all of the local charity shops!

7) Dance away at a music festival: Summertime in the UK is when all the music festivals emerge from their winter hibernation. There are so many gigs going on in London, you'll be spoilt for choice! Later this summer you can get to South West Four on Clapham Common at the end of August. http://www.southwestfour.com OnBlackheath is another fun-filled music meets foodie festival happening on the 12-13th September. http://www.onblackheath.com

8) Sip on a delicious summer cocktail: There is an endless list of places to go for a delicious cocktail over the summer, however, some of the secret rooftop bars are the best. Try Madison, for stunning views of St. Paul's cathedral and the rest of the city (http://www.madisonlondon.net). If you're more of a West London gal, head to the Kensington Rooftop Gardens to step into a lush terrace garden in the heart of Chelsea and Kensington (http://www.virginlimitededition.com/en/the-roof-gardens). Lastly, for those who love a good old speak-easy, get to Happiness Forgets in Hoxton Square. This tiny bar isn't easy to find, but once you get there you'll be sipping on one of the best cocktails you've had in a while! (http://www.happinessforgets.com)
