Bologna, the main city of Emilia Romagna, is known as "the intellectual" or "red" city in Italy. Intellectual for the presence of one of the oldest universities in Italy, red for the typical colour of its houses and roofs.

In a tour of Bologna, you should visit the wonderful churches, such as S. Petronio Basilica, S. Stefano Basilica or S. Maria della Vita sanctuary. Then, you can stop at "Piazza Maggiore", the hearth of the city, where there are important historic buildings. A legend says that it brings bad luck to the university students, so they never cross it!

Bologna is also famous for its ancient towers (the most famous is "Torre degli Asinelli", one of the few still standing) and the "Portici di San Luca", arcades that cover the city for 40 km.
